About the position
ENVIRONMENT:
A reputable Sporting Group seeks a highly technical IT Systems Administrator whose core role will entail being responsible for the server environment of an organization. You will ensure daily that they are running efficiently by performing upgrades and maintenance tasks on both hardware and software, resolving technical problems, overseeing their activity levels, ensuring server security, and developing new system structures where necessary. The successful candidate must have a National Diploma in Information Technology (NQF6) or equivalent qualification & Azure or MCSE international certification or equivalent qualification with 5 years’ experience in IT Server Management & experience in troubleshooting IT queries. You also need a strong understanding of basic networking concepts such as IP addressing, DNS, and routing.
DUTIES:
Respond to logged IT incidents -
- Respond within agreed time limits to call-outs.
- Prioritise and manage many open cases at one time.
- Resolve IT support requests escalated from the IT 1st Line Support team.
- Answer employee questions regarding computer systems.
Privileged account creation and review -
- Creation of privileged user accounts as per logged requests.
- Periodic review of the privileged accounts on all systems.
Server Availability -
- Ensure the server availability for end users through continuous server management and maintenance.
- Implement server warranties to ensure availability.
Network Support -
- Develop and implement network maintenance standard operating procedures.
- Diagnose and repair hardware and network malfunctions.
- Manage and monitor service providers responsible for the network.
- Ensure network availability for user connectivity.
Server Administration and Support (Hybrid Environment, i.e. Hosted, Azure, AWS and on-prem servers) -
- Install, configure, and maintain various types of hardware and software platforms.
- Configure, manage, and implement server operating systems.
- Administer the health of Active Directory and Entra.
- Manage the DHCP, DNS services.
- Manage application servers including the databases thereof.
Exchange Online Support -
- Manage and maintain the Exchange Online environment.
- Communicate effectively with users.
- Provide regular updates and ensure that their needs are met.
- Conduct user satisfaction call-backs / surveys as agreed with management.
IT Security Management -
- Ensure security firewalls are updated regularly to ensure that the company is protected against intrusion and attacks.
- Manage and update rules on the firewall.
- Perform review of IT access accounts.
Patch Management -
- Ensure that the server environment is patched.
- Ensure that the user environment is patched properly through logging calls for the un-compliant end users.
Backup and Continuity Reporting -
- Manage system backups and restore ensuring successful backups daily.
- Resolve logged backup incidents.
- Quarterly Disaster Recovery testing of system redundancies.
- Give input to the Disaster Recovery and Backup documentation documents.
Manage IT Service Providers -
- Manage and monitor IT Server Management deliverables from IT Service Providers.
Cloud -
- Ability to manage cloud solutions for server support.
- Ability to manage deploy services on the cloud.
Project Support -
- Perform such additional functions as may be instructed by the Line Manager from time to time.
- Ensure that allocated projects as specified by Line Manager are completed and that project deadlines have been met.
- Ensure that Project delivery does not affect or set back normal deadlines.
- Provide support for IT projects, including testing and deployment of new hardware and software.
- Project coordination.
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications –
- A National Diploma in Information Technology (NQF6) or equivalent qualification.
- Azure or MCSE international certification or equivalent qualification.
Experience/Skills –
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in IT Server Management.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in troubleshooting IT queries with experience in server and network management.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience with IT Security management.
- A strong understanding of basic networking concepts such as IP addressing, DNS, and routing, as well as hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
Advantageous –
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology (NQF7) or equivalent qualification.
- Network+ or Cisco Certifications (NQF 5) or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a multi-site environment.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in ITIL disciplines.
- Project Management experience.
