About the position
ENVIRONMENT:
A dynamic Ecotourism Company seeks a strong technical all-rounder to fill a hands-on role as an IT Systems Administrator where you will support and maintain technology systems, infrastructure and electronic equipment across multiple business entities. The successful candidate will take ownership of technology-related issues and work closely with management and staff to ensure systems remain reliable, secure, efficient and cost-effective. The successful candidate will require a suitable IT qualification or equivalent practical experience of at least 5 years in IT support, systems administration and infrastructure maintenance & experience supporting a variety of software applications and business systems. You will also need strong Microsoft Office, Windows, Apple (macOS) knowledge and a solid understanding of Cybersecurity principles and data protection.
DUTIES:
IT Infrastructure & User Support -
- Install, maintain and support desktops, laptops, servers, printers, mobile devices and related hardware.
- Administer Microsoft office, Windows environments, Apple (MACOs), email systems and remote access solutions.
- Provide day-to-day technical support to staff across all departments.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, connectivity and user-related issues.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, licensing and system access.
Network & Connectivity -
- Maintain and support network infrastructure across multiple sites.
- Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN and internet connectivity issues.
- Liaise with internet service providers and technology vendors when required.
- Monitor network performance, reliability and security.
Cybersecurity & Data Protection -
- Implement and maintain Cybersecurity best practices.
- Monitor and respond to security incidents and threats.
- Protect company systems, devices and data through appropriate controls and monitoring.
- Maintain backup systems and assist with Disaster Recovery planning.
Business Systems & Software Support -
- Support and maintain business-critical software platforms and applications.
- Assist users with software troubleshooting, configuration and training.
- Manage software installations, upgrades and licensing.
- Ensure systems are operating effectively and supporting business requirements.
CCTV, Electronic Systems & Operational Technology -
- Maintain and troubleshoot CCTV systems and surveillance infrastructure.
- Support attendance systems, Point-of-Sale systems, televisions, display systems and other operational technologies.
- Assist with any electronic equipment or technology system used within the organisation.
- Coordinate repairs and specialist support when required.
Technology Optimisation & Continuous Improvement -
- Review and optimise software applications, subscriptions and technology systems across the organisation.
- Ensure all paid software, applications and technology services are fully utilised and provide value to the business.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automate processes and reduce unnecessary costs.
- Recommend practical and cost-effective technology improvements.
- Monitor licence usage, subscriptions and renewals to maximise return on investment.
Asset Management & Documentation –
- Maintain a complete and accurate inventory of all technology and electronic assets.
- Track equipment allocation, location, warranty information and replacement schedules.
- Maintain system documentation, supplier information and technology records.
- Ensure technology assets are properly controlled and accounted for across all sites.
Planning, Prioritisation & Accountability -
- Prioritise support requests and projects according to operational requirements and business impact.
- Manage multiple tasks and competing priorities across different entities and locations.
- Keep management informed regarding outstanding issues, risks and technology requirements.
- Take ownership of issues and ensure appropriate follow-through until resolution.
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications –
- Relevant IT qualification or equivalent practical experience.
Experience/Skills –
- Minimum 5 years' experience in IT support, systems administration and infrastructure maintenance.
- Strong Microsoft Office, Windows, Apple (macOS) knowledge.
- Experience supporting a variety of software applications and business systems.
- Sound understanding of Cybersecurity principles and data protection.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid Driver's Licence.
- Willingness to travel between company properties when required.
