About the position

Our client, a leading speciality chemical Manufacturing company based in Durban, is looking to fill the position of IT Support / Assistant.

Purpose of the Role:
To ensure all activities with regards to IT are handled in a professional timeous manner with accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:
ERP:

  • Serve as the primary local contact for SAP users regarding issues, applications, and training needs (Helpdesk).
  • Coordinate incidents by SAP users.
  • Assist with the migration from Axapta to SAP.

Local IT:

  • Consolidate and verify local user requests.
  • Ensure all necessary backups are completed and maintained.
  • Develop, review, and maintain the Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • Provide secure network access for remote users via RDS.
  • Ensure all software is properly licensed and maintained.
  • Collaborate with project teams to implement internal systems.
  • Keep users informed about IT network updates and changes.
  • Upgrade and maintain boardroom infrastructure with the latest technology.

Networking:

  • Assist in planning and implementing infrastructure additions, deletions, and major modifications.
  • Negotiate and manage local fibre network contracts, including necessary upgrades for improved connectivity.
  • Implement network security in accordance with SIS standards.
  • Oversee the administration and maintenance of the company's local IT infrastructure.

VoIP Services:

  • Maintain and install upgrades for the company's direct routing telephony system at a national level.
  • Oversee all VoIP-related changes, including routing for seating assignments.
  • Help desk administration.
  • Resolve all help desk activities and ensure efficient ticket resolution.
  • Provide timely IT support and assistance to employees at all levels.
  • Administer the service desk via the internal system.

Asset Management:

  • Manage the procurement and maintenance of hardware and software.
  • Ensure all company IT assets are recorded, maintained, and tracked responsibly.
  • Ensure all assets are documented and updated in ERP and the internal system.

General Responsibilities:

  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned to support IT operations.
  • Always uphold a professional and positive company image

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 Senior Certificate / Matric
  • Relevant IT qualification
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years
  • Strong knowledge of SAP ERP system
  • Expertise in networking, cloud computing (Azure), cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure
  • Experience managing IT projects, budgets, and vendor relationships
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Regular and on time attendance
  • Will be required to work overtime
