About the position
To ensure the effective management, maintenance, and support of the organization's IT systems, networks, and infrastructure, providing reliable technical support, safeguarding information security, and enabling employees to perform their roles efficiently. The IT Officer will proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve IT issues while contributing to continuous improvement of technology processes and systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide first-line support to employees for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve IT-related problems efficiently.
- Escalate complex issues to higher-level IT staff when required.
2.System & Network Administration
- Maintain and monitor servers, networks, and IT infrastructure.
- Ensure system performance, uptime, and security.
- Implement software updates, patches, and upgrades as needed.
3.Hardware & Software Management
- Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
- Manage software installations, licenses, and updates.
- Maintain accurate IT inventory records.
4.Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company IT policies and security protocols.
- Monitor and mitigate cybersecurity risks.
- Educate staff on safe IT practices and data protection.
5.User Accounts & Access Management
- Create, manage, and disable user accounts and access rights.
- Reset passwords and assist users with system access.
- Ensure proper role-based access control is maintained.
6.Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of IT issues, solutions, and maintenance activities.
- Generate reports on system performance, incidents, and IT projects.
- Document standard operating procedures and knowledge base articles.
7.IT Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Assist in planning and implementing IT projects and upgrades.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements.
- Identify inefficiencies in IT systems and propose solutions.
8.End-User Training & Support
- Provide guidance and training to staff on software, systems, and IT best practices.
- Support employees in maximizing use of IT resources.
Educational Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications are an added advantage, e.g.:
CompTIA A+ (IT support fundamentals)
Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
ITIL Foundation (IT service management)
Experience:
- Minimum 1-3 years of practical experience in IT support, systems administration, or helpdesk roles.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Desktop and laptop support (Windows/Linux/Mac OS)
- Software installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Network and server administration
- IT security practices, backups, and preventive maintenance
- Experience with ticketing systems, HRIS, or IT asset management systems is preferred.
- Exposure to end-user training and support is an added advantage.
