  • Troubleshoot instrument connectivity, system integration, and data transfer issues to ensure accurate and timely reporting of laboratory results.

  • Collaborate with instrument vendors and internal IT teams to implement new integrations and interface developments.

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, application, and network connectivity issues.

  • Provide technical support in person, telephonically, and through remote access.

  • Respond to technical support requests and incidents promptly and efficiently.

  • Document troubleshooting procedures, resolutions, and recurring technical issues.

  • Identify opportunities to improve organisational efficiency through system integration and automation.

Data Management:
  • Monitor data integrity within the LIMS and investigate and resolve discrepancies.

  • Assist in developing and implementing quality control procedures relating to LIMS data.

  • Generate and analyse reports for operational, quality assurance, and regulatory purposes.

  • Ensure the appropriate archiving, retention, and management of laboratory data in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of IT assets, hardware, software, and licences.

  • Keep detailed records of repairs, maintenance activities, system changes, and technical resolutions.

Training and Documentation:
  • Develop and deliver training to laboratory staff on LIMS functionality, system updates, and best practices.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation covering system configurations, workflows, troubleshooting procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Provide user orientation and guidance on new software applications and computer equipment.

  • Promote IT best practices, cybersecurity awareness, data privacy, and efficient system usage.

Project Management:
  • Participate in or lead projects involving LIMS upgrades, new module implementations, system enhancements, and laboratory technology integrations.

  • Collaborate with laboratory management to identify opportunities for process optimisation and improved operational efficiency.

  • Conduct system testing to verify the functionality, accuracy, and reliability of new implementations and software updates.

  • Support the implementation of new business systems and technologies.

  • Ensure that system changes are appropriately documented and tested before implementation.

Compliance and Security:
  • Ensure that system configurations and IT operations comply with relevant regulatory requirements and organisational quality standards.

  • Implement and maintain appropriate IT security measures to protect patient confidentiality and data integrity.

  • Support audits relating to laboratory information systems and IT processes.

  • Promote compliance with internal IT policies and data protection requirements.

IT Team Management:
  • Manage and oversee the IT team, ensuring effective service delivery and technical support.

  • Allocate responsibilities, monitor performance, and provide guidance to team members.

  • Ensure that IT support activities, maintenance schedules, and projects are completed efficiently.

  • Encourage collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the IT function.

Requirements:

  • Relevant IT qualification (Diploma or Degree).

  • Valid driver's licence.

  • Ability to commute to Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years' experience working with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) within a medical laboratory environment.
