Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5-8 years' experience in IT, including at least 3 years in a management role
- Experience working with Syspro ERP

Role Objective
The IT Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the organisation's entire technology environment, including infrastructure, cybersecurity, user support, and ERP systems used across the company.
The role ensures the stability, integrity, and performance of all IT platforms, while supporting business operations, driving improvements, and enabling strategic growth.
Key Performance Areas
1. Hardware and Software Maintenance
- Ensure daily system backups are completed and securely stored, including offsite copies.
- Maintain all hardware in optimal working condition to support operational needs.
- Recommend hardware upgrades or replacements based on lifecycle and performance.
- Ensure legal compliance of all software licenses used in the organisation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software issues promptly to minimise downtime.
- Maintain and compile spreadsheets and data extracts derived from Syspro.
2. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems Management
- Act as the overall custodian of all ERP systems in the organisation.
- Oversee ERP performance, availability, security, and data integrity across all modules.
- Manage ERP configurations, upgrades, enhancements, and integrations.
- Maintain access controls, permissions, and segregation of duties.
- Lead ERP projects, rollouts, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure ERP systems support operational, financial, and reporting requirements.
- Maintain audit readiness and compliance for all ERP processes and data.
3. Infrastructure Management
- Manage network infrastructure and WAN connectivity across all branches.
- Oversee data lines connecting branches to Head Office servers and cloud environments.
- Maintain email and messaging platforms, including Exchange.
- Ensure network uptime, optimisation, and security across the organisation.
- Support and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity systems.
4. Project Management
- Lead and manage IT projects, including design and deployment of new systems and services.
- Manage project timelines, resources, budgets, and stakeholder communication.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Implement project management methodologies to track progress, manage risks, and ensure successful delivery.
5. User Support and Helpdesk Management
- Oversee IT support and helpdesk operations, ensuring efficient resolution of user issues.
- Maintain high levels of user satisfaction by ensuring excellent service delivery.
- Identify recurring issues and implement long-term solutions.
- Improve helpdesk processes and efficiency.
6. IT Security and Compliance
- Ensure IT systems are secure and compliant with relevant regulations, including data protection and cybersecurity standards.
- Develop and enforce IT security policies and procedures.
- Implement and monitor:
- Disaster recovery plans
- Backup solutions
- Business continuity strategies
7. IT Operations Management
- Manage the daily operations of the IT department.
- Oversee system administration, network management, and server infrastructure.
- Ensure timely resolution of IT incidents and technical issues.
- Provide technical expertise and escalation support when required.
8. Management of IT Service Providers
- Oversee and manage external IT service providers supporting branch operations.
- Establish service level expectations and performance standards.
- Ensure providers meet uptime, response time, and quality-of-service requirements.
- Monitor performance through SLAs, KPIs, and regular reviews.
- Coordinate support across multiple branches to ensure consistent service delivery.
- Resolve escalated issues and enforce accountability.
- Manage vendor relationships, contract renewals, and negotiations.
- Optimise IT service costs and vendor performance.
- Ensure service providers comply with security, data protection, and governance standards.
9. Stock Take and Month-End Support
- Prepare ERP systems for stock takes, including system freezes and validation checks.
- Provide technical support for month-end and year-end rollovers in coordination with Finance.
- Ensure scanning devices, applications, and warehouse connectivity function correctly.
- Provide training and support to users involved in stock takes.
- Validate and import stock count data.
- Troubleshoot discrepancies and assist with reconciliations.
- Analyse system performance after stock takes and recommend process improvements.
