About the position
Purpose of the Role:
The IT Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day IT operations, infrastructure, internal systems, and end-user support to ensure continuous IT service delivery across the business. The role focuses on operational excellence, effective cyber security practices, system reliability, and strong support services while aligning with IT policies and procedures. Strategic planning remains the responsibility of the CIO, to whom this role reports.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational IT Management:
- Manage the overall IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, backups, security tools, and endpoints.
- Enforce IT policies, procedures, and compliance standards across the organization.
- Monitor systems for performance and availability; ensure preventative maintenance and upgrades are performed as required.
- Maintain a robust cyber security posture, ensuring regular patching, monitoring, and vulnerability management.
Internal Systems & Applications: - Oversee the day-to-day management and support of key business systems such as:
- Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains)
- WebCaci
- Pest App and any other internal platforms.
- Liaise with system vendors and ensure uptime, integration, and performance are maintained.
- Manage user access, data integrity, and issue resolution.
Helpdesk & Support Services: - Lead and manage the IT Helpdesk team, ensuring efficient incident and request handling.
- Maintain ticketing system and service logs; ensure timely resolution of user issues.
- Implement and maintain a Business SLA for internal support, ensuring IT responsiveness and accountability.
Team Management: - Supervise IT support staff; mentor and develop team capabilities.
- Allocate resources and manage workload across the support team.
- Conduct performance reviews and ensure continuous professional development.
Compliance & Security: - Ensure company-wide IT practices comply with internal policies and relevant data protection legislation.
- Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and awareness training.
- Support internal and external audits from an IT perspective.
Qualifications & Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of IT operations experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/management role.
- Experience managing infrastructure and applications in a medium to large business environment.
- Solid knowledge of cyber security practices and IT governance.
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics GP) and bespoke business apps.
- Working knowledge of SQL and Power BI will be a strong advantage.
