About the position
We are seeking a hands-on, experienced IT Infrastructure Project Manager to lead a critical infrastructure deployment project at our Johannesburg Data Centre. This contract role requires full-time on-site presence for the duration of 3–4 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the onsite installation of cabling and the build of a new server room.
- Coordinate and oversee third-party suppliers and contractors to ensure timely and quality delivery.
- Lead end-to-end project management of IT infrastructure initiatives.
- Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations.
- Monitor and control project budgets, risks, and issues; escalate and resolve as necessary.
- Ensure all deliverables align with IT security standards and compliance requirements.
- Provide regular status updates and reports to stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews and capture lessons learned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT project management, with a strong focus on infrastructure projects.
- Solid understanding of networking, server environments, data centres, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Proven track record of managing on-site builds, cabling installations, and infrastructure rollouts.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification (preferred).
- Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Jira, or Trello.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Must be hands-on and comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational environment.
