Investment Analyst (Corporate)

About the position

Leading, listed Financial Services company is looking for a skilled, dynamic BCom Honours graduate (CFA / CA(SA) added advantage) with 3-5 years experience in Investment / Corporate Finance Analysis to join their team. The position will best suit a candidate looking to work inhouse with a leading corporate, skilled in analysis and a candidate with an entrepreneurial mind set, capable of engaging at executive level.
Responsibilities:

Analysis

• Manage the investment process related to all prospective transactions and business opportunities including inter alia engaging with clients to obtain data and information, liaising with internal valuations team regarding process and methodologies
• Effective engagement with clients in respect of the required transaction data and information to evaluate investment opportunities
• Prepare investment case documentation to assist the investment committee in evaluating business opportunities
• Develop, improve functionality and maintain accuracy of financial models underpinning the investment case for each transaction opportunity
• Conduct financial and statistical analysis and review of opportunities with the view to identifying new business opportunities and developing new return / investment evaluation metrics
• Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders and business divisions to effectively manage client requirements and execution
• Assist with the preparation of client presentations
• Identifying transaction opportunities (vanilla and structured transactions) through researching and reviewing clients’ analyst/results presentations/annual reports with the aim of delivering bespoke capital solutions that meets their objectives
• Maintain a thorough understanding of the impact accounting policies

Research and origination

• Initiating and developing innovative ways of attracting new client business
• Conduct research to assist the Executive with the development of new business strategies, both locally and internationally
• Identify potential acquisition opportunities (local and international) through conducting research and analysis (based on private and public information)
• Present analysis to the investment committee and stakeholders in coherent business case submissions 

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) Investment management or equivalent qualification (CA(SA) / CFA advantageous / preferred), Statistics, Actuarial or a related field
• 3-5 years’ experience in corporate finance analysis / financial analysis / business analysis, analytics, modelling.
• Technically proficient with strong analytical skills
• Business writing and corporate communication ability
• Strong Accounting and Analysis proficiency
• Good interpersonal skills

• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and the ability to collaborate effectively
