Established, successful and growing Investment Management company, with operations in South Africa and internationally, seeks a bright, skilled Investment Analyst to grow their team and work on their precision engineered multi asset portfolios.
The candidate must have a completed Honours degree and completed CFA together with 3-5 years relevant working experience within an investment management / wealth management environment.
Strong marks and a history of academic and work success are essential.
The role focuses on fund research, asset class analysis, and market insights to support portfolio construction and investment strategy. The successful candidate will prepare detailed research reports, contribute to the Investment Committee, and collaborate with global colleagues.
Duties will include:
Market Research and Analysis
- Conduct research on global financial markets, asset classes, and economic indicators.
- Analyse trends, risks, and opportunities to inform investment decision-making.
- Prepare research reports and presentations for discussion at the Investment Committee.
Fund Research
- Screen potential investment opportunities using quantitative and qualitative tools.
- Develop insights into fund managers’ performance, investment process, team stability, and cost efficiency.
- Conduct qualitative due diligence on managers (e.g., meetings, peer comparisons).
- Maintain structured monitoring of selected funds, including performance reviews and attribution analysis
Investment Committee
- Provide research-driven input into asset allocation and fund selection decisions.
- Assist in preparing briefing materials and presenting research findings.
- Support documentation of discussions, decisions, and ongoing strategy evolution.
Collaboration and Team Support
- Work closely with investment colleagues in Johannesburg and London.
- Contribute to cross-team initiatives such as technology development, product design, and reporting improvements.
- Support and learn from senior portfolio managers while growing into a more senior role over time.
Communication and Reporting
- Prepare high-quality written reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicate research findings clearly, translating complex financial analysis into accessible insights.
Product Development and Innovation
- Support the design and delivery of new investment products and services.
- Stay informed about industry innovations and contribute ideas to maintain the firm’s competitive edge.
Candidate must have the following qualities:
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Proficiency in investment research tools and platforms (e.g. Bloomberg, Morningstar).
- Broad knowledge of global financial markets, asset classes, and investment products.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate in a dynamic, multi-location team environment.
- High ethical standards and integrity.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and intellectual curiosity.
- Capacity to work independently and manage multiple priorities
