This role is responsible for guiding customers in finding the right selection of spices and goods whilst maintaining a clean organized and inviting environment. You are responsible for assisting customers, achieving sales targets, whilst providing a high-quality shopping experience.

Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Strong Math skills.
- Microsoft office, MS Outlook, POS systems
- Knowledge of spices, herbs, and culinary ingredients.
- Ability to multitask.
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills Passion for spices and cooking and culinary fusion foods.
- Must be able to work weekends and public holidays.
Sales & Customer Service
- Ensure your attire is neat and tidy and clean. (branded shirt, hairnet, apron)
- Ensure that you project a friendly demeanour in your welcome of your customer.
- Greet and assist customers providing knowledgeable guidance on spices, blends, and related products.
- Understand customer needs and recommend appropriate spices, blends or tips.
- Assist customers with product selection. Upsell and cross sell products to increase basket size.
- Provide knowledgeable recommendations based on cooking styles, cuisines and preferences.
- Promote product features, sales promotions and upsell to customers.
- Drive sales through upselling, product knowledge and customer engagement.
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by providing an excellent service, handling customer queries/inquiries professionally.
- Ensure a positive shopping experience that encourages repeat business.
Inventory & Merchandising
- Promote store products and upsell related items Assist in maintaining attractive product displays and ensure shelves are well stocked.
- Maintain Demo stations and showcase demo products to customers.
- Assist with regular inventory counts.
- Implement visual merchandising standards to promote key products and enhance customer experience.
- Support promotional campaigns and new product launches Identify short-dated products and promote on sales plan, as well bring to the attention of the Store Supervisor.
Store Operations
- Process sales using POS system (If requested to you by Supervisor)
- Maintain cleanliness in store, including shelves, counters, kitchen, fridges.
- Check product expiry dates and ensure product rotation (FIFO) Ensure masala counter is always clean (inclusive of the glass panels)
- Products must be decanted, with metal tag description on all products displayed.
Product Knowledge
- Understand the different types of spices, herbs, rice, condiments, sauces, and savouries.
- Explain flavour profiles, uses in cooking, and storage guidelines.
- Maintain a strong understanding of all spices, blends, and specialty products offered; stay informed about new arrivals and their uses.
- Advise customers on spice combinations or recipe ideas.
- Occasionally prepare or offer samples to educate customers about products (if applicable).
- Understanding of seasonal religious & traditional calendars and following through with displays and related products to enhance sales.
Reporting & Administration
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly sales tracker reports.
- Track sales and report timeously to store supervisor.
Health & Safety
- Adhere to all food safety regulation and health and safety regulations.
- Adhere to safe food handling processes when working with prepared food and with preparation of food.
- Follow all food handling, health and hygiene safety and cleanliness standards.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and retail regulations.
- Report incidents and hazards promptly.
