About the position
Perform audit procedures across the Group Desired Experience & Qualification Advanced accounting and financial reporting knowledge
Review and maintain group policies
Test and develop internal controls and suggest improvements
Assess operational systems and ensure SOP compliance
Conduct standard stock checks across allocated branches
Liaise with warehouse management on stock counts, variances, and access control
Provide directors with assurance on control effectiveness
Ensure protection and reporting of company assets (monetary, physical, stock, brand, and people)
Regular travel to branches as part of audit function
Document and record all procedures performed
Identify risks and propose appropriate mitigation strategies
Perform administrative and ad hoc audit-related duties
Stay current on regulations, standards, and best practices
Document, evaluate, and improve internal processes and controls
Prepare audit finding reports highlighting key concerns
Support and guide management on new developments
Advanced Excel skills and strong MS Office proficiency
Deep understanding of auditing standards, procedures, laws, and regulations
Experience in retail industry auditing
Solid grasp of risk identification and control recommendations
Familiarity with Pastel Accounting, SAGE People/VIP, and PAYE
Experience working with accounting software and databases
Ability to analyze large datasets and compile detailed audit reports
Strong documentation and business process evaluation skills
Completed Articles (preferably from a medium to large audit firm)
3-5 years of relevant experience (internal/external audit)
Retail audit experience highly beneficial
Willingness to travel to branches as required

About The Employer:
Our client based Cape Town who is a South African trading and distribution company is looking for a skilled Internal Auditor to join their dynamic team and provide vital assurance services across their operations. This is a hands-on role reporting to the Group Internal Audit Manager, offering a chance to impact the effectiveness of their internal controls and safeguard the group's integrity.
The Internal Auditor will work for the entire Group and there is travelling to Eastern Cape, Gauteng and KZN that is required.
