About the position

Our client, a leading Manufacturing/Production company based in Umhlanga, is looking to fill the position of Internal Auditor.

Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of an organization's financial records and compliance with regulations. The successful incumbent will also play a critical role in safeguarding the organization's assets, ensuring the reliability of financial information, and promoting operational efficiency through thorough and objective evaluation of financial and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities:
Audit Cycle:

  • Perform the full audit cycle, including risk management and control management over operations' effectiveness, financial reliability, and compliance with applicable directives and regulations.

Scope and Planning:

  • Determine the internal audit scope and develop annual plans.

Documentation Analysis:

  • Obtain, analyse, and evaluate accounting documentation, previous reports, data, and flowcharts.
  • Suggest new financial policies and key controls.

Reporting:

  • Prepare and present reports that reflect audit results and document processes.

Independent Advice:

  • Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality, and goal achievement.

Risk Aversion:

  • Identify loopholes and recommend risk aversion measures and cost savings.

Communication:

  • Maintain open communication with management and the audit committee.

Follow-up audits:

  • Conduct follow-up audits to monitor management's interventions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 Senior Certificate
  • A SAQA-recognized Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 3 years proven working experience as an Internal Auditor
  • Professional certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or equivalent, advantageous
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office, accounting software, and SAP advantageous)
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data and compile detailed reports
  • Familiarity with auditing and accounting standards, procedures, laws, rules, and regulations. Cement industry experience is an advantage
  • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
