About the position
Purpose of the role:
The Mid-Level System Support Engineer is responsible for managing and resolving complex system issues across hardware and software platforms. This role focuses on improving system performance and reliability, implementing upgrades and patches, and mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and resolve complex hardware, software, and system issues.
- Lead initiatives to improve overall system performance, stability, and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement system upgrades, patches, and updates.
- Provide mentoring, guidance, and training sessions for Mid and Junior Engineers.
- Document system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and best practices.
- Assist in maintaining system monitoring, backup procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to enhance system support capabilities.
RequirementsMinimum Requirements:
- NQF Level 4 qualification or a Degree in Information Communication Technology (ICT) or related field, including Information Systems.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), or AWS are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Network Engineer, Data Centre, or System Support role.
- Proven experience managing complex systems and implementing system improvements.
