About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Intermediate Network & VoIP Engineer to join our technical team in Kyalami, Gauteng.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of network and VoIP environments. This role requires a technically strong individual with practical experience across networking infrastructure, voice solutions and customer support.
You will work with a range of network technologies and VoIP platforms, ensuring reliable connectivity, communication services and overall infrastructure performance.
Key Responsibilities
Network Engineering
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN network environments.
- Install and configure switches, routers, firewalls, and other network equipment.
- Monitor network performance, availability and security.
- Troubleshoot connectivity, routing, switching and network performance issues.
- Configure VLANs, DHCP, DNS, VPNs and routing protocols.
- Perform network installations, upgrades and maintenance.
- Diagnose and resolve network faults within agreed SLA requirements.
- Maintain accurate network documentation and configurations.
- Assist with network design and infrastructure projects where required.
VoIP Engineering
- Install, configure and maintain VoIP systems and telephony infrastructure.
- Configure SIP trunks, extensions, dial plans, and call routing.
- Troubleshoot voice quality, connectivity, registration, and call-routing issues.
- Configure and support IP phones, VoIP gateways and related equipment.
- Monitor VoIP systems and proactively identify potential issues.
- Assist with VoIP migrations, upgrades and new installations.
- Work with service providers to resolve SIP, connectivity, and voice-related faults.
- Provide technical support to users and customers.
General Responsibilities
- Provide second-line technical support for network and VoIP-related incidents.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or vendors when required.
- Maintain technical documentation, diagrams and configuration records.
- Participate in planned maintenance and after-hours support when required.
- Follow change-management and IT service-management processes.
- Maintain strong customer and stakeholder relationships.
Requirements
- Relevant Diploma, Degree or industry certification in IT, Networking, Telecommunications or a related field.
- 3–5 years' experience in a network engineering or infrastructure support environment.
- Practical experience with VoIP / IP telephony environments.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, routing, and switching.
- Experience with SIP and SIP trunking.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Good understanding of LAN/WAN technologies.
- Experience with VPN technologies would be advantageous.
- Experience with IP PBX systems such as 3CX, Yeastar, Asterisk, FreePBX or similar would be advantageous.
- Cisco, Fortinet, MikroTik, Ubiquiti or similar networking experience would be advantageous.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- Valid driver's licence and own reliable vehicle would be advantageous.
