The Role: Interior Design Lecturer
As an Interior Design Lecturer, you will be responsible for teaching, mentoring, and inspiring students in design theory, technical skills, and creative application. This role combines academic contribution, research, and student development, with opportunities to shape the curriculum and drive innovative teaching approaches that meet industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant industry experience in interior design
- Design and deliver engaging modules aligned with SAQA and CHE standards
- Teach and integrate practical and digital tools, including AutoCAD and Revit (Adobe Suite an advantage)
- Guide student learning through lectures, tutorials, mentorship, and professional coaching
- Contribute to curriculum planning, departmental strategy, and accreditation processes
- Drive research, consultancy, and course innovation within the Interior Design discipline
- Engage with industry professionals, moderators, and external networks to strengthen programme relevance
- Support and monitor student performance, providing constructive feedback and fostering professional growth
About You
- Relevant diploma or degree in Interior Design from an accredited institution
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (Adobe Suite is a plus)
- Previous teaching, lecturing, or training experience highly advantageous
- Excellent communication skills in English and Afrikaans
- Strong interpersonal and rapport-building skills with a people-first approach
- Effective time management, organisation, and the ability to handle challenges under pressure
- Passionate about design education, innovation, and contributing to student success
