Our client is looking to employ as Interim Operations Manager (12 Month Contract)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Leadership
- Lead all Operations functions, including:
- Inbound Stores (Raw Materials & Packaging)
- Manufacturing / Blending
- Filling & Packing
- Maintenance / Engineering
- Oversee smooth daily production flow, meeting efficiency targets and SOP compliance.
- Maintain operational KPIs such as production targets, efficiencies, and stock accuracy.
- Drive preventive maintenance programs.
- Identify bottlenecks and lead cross-team problem-solving initiatives.
Compliance & Collaboration
- Work alongside Technical / Quality teams to ensure full GMP / ISO22716 compliance.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Finished Goods teams to support production scheduling and handover.
- Ensure adherence to safety, hygiene, and factory cleanliness standards.
Team Management
- Lead and develop Team Leaders across all operational areas.
- Optimise labour allocation (including temp staff) to meet production plans.
- Foster morale and ensure effective communication across shifts.
Reporting
- Provide regular KPI reports to the MD.
- Escalate strategic, cross-functional, or regulatory matters when necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Available to start immediately
- Grade 12 / Matric
- 7 - 10 years Proven operational leadership in FMCG / personal care / cosmetics manufacturing experience
- Deep understanding of end-to-end factory operations:
- Bulk manufacturing / blending
- Flexible filling & packing
- Maintenance and asset reliability
- Strong knowledge of GMP / ISO22716 standards.
- Successful track record managing Team Leaders and operational teams.
- Strong decision-making, prioritisation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communicator with excellent cross-functional relationship skills
- Exposure to private-label or contract manufacturing environments (Preferable)
