About the position
A leading engineering company is looking for an experienced Instrumentation Technician with strong experience in dairy processing environments and instrumentation systems to join their team in Estcourt, KwaZulu-Natal. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, calibrating, and improving instrumentation and control systems to ensure optimal plant performance, efficiency, and minimal downtime.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems
- Conduct preventative maintenance and calibration of instrumentation equipment
- Diagnose and repair faults on PLCs, sensors, transmitters, and automated systems
- Ensure minimal downtime by responding effectively to breakdowns and plant issues
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and system upgrades
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
- Maintain accurate maintenance and calibration records
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to improve operational efficiency
Requirements:
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related qualification
- Proven experience as an Instrumentation Technician within the food processing industry
- Dairy industry experience is essential
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation, control systems, and automated processing equipment
- Experience with fault finding, calibration, and preventative maintenance
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
