About the position
Our client, a leading player in the chemical processing sector, is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Supervisor to join their maintenance division. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all instrumentation maintenance activities, ensuring legal compliance with OHS and machinery regulations, and driving plant reliability through strategic planning and team leadership.
Qualifications:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- National Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent/higher
- Instrumentation Red Seal certification
Experience:
- 5–10 years in a supervisory/foreman role within engineering/maintenance
- Proven experience in chemical processing plants or similar heavy industrial environments
- Knowledge of Area Classification, SIL standards, and ISO [Phone Number Removed];
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the legally appointed OHS representative for all instrumentation works on site
- Plan and execute maintenance activities using CMMS (SAP) in line with engineering standards, OEM guidelines, RCM, 5Why, and RCA methodologies
- Organize and lead instrumentation personnel (Technicians, Artisans, Workshop Controller) to ensure compliance with maintenance strategies and statutory requirements
- Ensure continuous availability of instrumentation systems (Level, Pressure, Flow, Analytical, etc.) for operational use
- Conduct risk assessments, enforce safety protocols, and maintain safety systems to achieve zero Lost Time Injuries
- Collaborate with reliability engineers and other departments to optimize spare parts management and plant availability
- Prepare reports on work execution, breakdown diagnostics, and compliance audits
- Drive Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
