About the position
Role & Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain Unix/Linux servers, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement timely solutions.
- Apply system updates, patches, and security fixes as part of routine maintenance.
- Create and maintain system documentation, including procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting guides.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and internal policies.
- Deploy, manage, and operate workloads on AWS and Azure, implementing security controls and compliance requirements.
- Track and update Jira user stories to meet deadlines.
- Support system stability and adherence to operational standards.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base for the sub-product.
- Manage Problem, Incident, and Change processes for dedicated ITSM services.
- Participate in standby rotations, including weekends if required.
- Keep configuration and operational documentation up to date in all relevant systems.
- Attend and moderate operational meetings.

- Location: Midrand / Menlyn / Rosslyn / Remote/Home Office rotation
- Nationality: South African citizens/residents preferred; applicants with valid work permits will also be considered

The product "Linux Server" provides fully managed Linux servers for multiple departments.
RequirementsEssential Skills:
- Strong experience with Unix/Linux operating systems (SUSE).
- Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python).
- Knowledge of High Availability systems (e.g., Veritas Infoscale).
- Experience with system monitoring tools (Nagios, Grafana, or similar) and backup solutions.
- High-level knowledge of Oracle and SAP.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, SSH, TCP/IP).
Advantageous Skills:
- IT certifications (SUSE, Veritas Infoscale)
- Experience with Agile working methodologies.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware).
- Familiarity with private cloud solutions.
- Knowledge of Windows Server.
- Experience with monitoring tools (Dynatrace, Grafana, Splunk).
- Experience with containerization technologies (Podman, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
- Basic knowledge of ITIL and ITSM processes (Problem, Incident, Change).
- Experience with ServiceNow tool and processes.
Qualifications / Experience:
- Degree in Information Systems or equivalent experience.
- Strong experience with coding and scripting (Bash, PowerShell, etc.).
- Strong experience with Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, SLES).
- Strong experience with Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure).
- Strong knowledge of version control systems (GitHub).
- Experience with ServiceNow, Dynatrace, Red Hat Satellite (advantageous).
- Linux certifications such as RHCSA (advantageous).
- Ansible certification - RHCE (ex294/ex407) (advantageous).
- Minimum 5 years of IT operations experience.
- Minimum 5 years of configuration management and automation experience.
