About the position
Looking for an opportunity to apply your pharmaceutical expertise in a role focused on medicines information, clinical support, and evidence-based practice? A 6-month fixed-term contract is available in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, for an experienced Information Pharmacist who is passionate about delivering accurate drug information, supporting healthcare professionals, and contributing to patient safety through informed clinical decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, evidence-based medicines information to healthcare professionals and internal stakeholders.
- Conduct literature searches and critically evaluate scientific and clinical publications.
- Support pharmacovigilance and drug safety activities.
- Prepare technical reports, information documents, and educational material.
- Maintain medicines information databases and bibliographic resources.
- Assist with training, presentations, and educational initiatives where required.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical, and professional pharmacy standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- BSc (Pharm) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm).
- Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Registration with the Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa (PSSA).
- Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmacology will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 4 years' experience within a retail, hospital, or managed healthcare pharmacy environment.
- Strong literature searching, critical appraisal, and scientific evaluation skills.
- Experience with pharmacovigilance and drug safety activities will be advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience using bibliographic management software and databases such as Microsoft Access will be advantageous.
- Excellent written communication, presentation, and training skills.
