Location: Robertville, Johannesburg
Role Overview
Field-based technician responsible for installation, servicing, maintenance, and repair of industrial sewing machines at client sites. The focus is on maximising machine uptime, performance, and production efficiency.
Technical Requirements (Essential)
- Hands-on experience with:
- Lockstitch machines (single & double needle)
- Overlock/serger machines (3, 4, 5 thread)
- Strong skills in:
- Machine setup and calibration
- Timing and synchronisation
- Thread tension and stitch troubleshooting
- Mechanical fault finding and repair
- Preventative maintenance
Advantage: Experience with flatbed, cylinder-bed, walking foot machines, or automation systems
Experience Required
- Proven experience as an industrial sewing machine technician
- Background in manufacturing environments such as:
- Clothing or textile production
- Footwear manufacturing
- Upholstery or automotive trimming
Minimum Requirements
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work independently (field-based role)
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to travel
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical qualification (mechanical, textile, or maintenance)
- Experience with brands such as Juki, Brother, Pegasus, Siruba, or Dürkopp Adler

Key Responsibilities
Technical Service & Maintenance
- Install, service, and repair industrial sewing machines
- Perform preventative maintenance
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults
Machine Setup & Optimisation
- Set up and calibrate machines for production needs
- Adjust timing, tension, and stitch formation
- Improve efficiency and reduce downtime
Client Support
- Provide on-site technical assistance
- Train operators on machine use and basic maintenance
- Advise on best practices and optimisation
Reporting
- Maintain service records and reports
- Support spare parts identification and ordering
- Communicate technical feedback internally
