About the position
Our client, a leading mining company is looking to appoint an Inclusive Procurement Specialist to join their team for a long-term contract based in Kathu, Northern Cape.
The main purpose of the role is to manage and ensure the regional implementation that enables the delivery of a global strategic programme on Inclusive Procurement ambitions within the company's host communities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12
- Bachelor's Degree in Procurement/Supply Chain Management or related field OR an alternatively relevant tertiary qualification.
- Valid driver's license and own vehicle.
Technical Skills Required:
- Knowledge of procurement practices, particularly in inclusive procurement and supplier diversity, with a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity.
- Knowledge of daily mining operations and associated processes.
- Understanding of socio-economic development principles, specifically in rural communities.
- Knowledge of strategic execution frameworks and methodologies.
- Familiarity with supplier development concepts and practices.
- Understanding of regulatory and legislative frameworks related to procurement and their implications for operations.
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles.
- Understanding of commercial acumen and business case development processes.
- Knowledge of relationship management and performance measurement for suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
- Understanding of continuous supply chain improvement and optimisation strategies.
- Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996) and related legislation for ensuring compliance and safety in mining operations.
Main duties will include, but are not limited to:
Performance and Delivery
General
- Provide Inclusive Procurement contributions to the overall Supply Chain business strategy, particularly on creative partnering and robust supplier development.
- Embrace an agile Supply Chain by being adaptive and flexible to accommodate and focus on emerging and changing business priorities.
Community Strategy & Programme Management
- Practical support and change management at the business level, specifically focusing on supporting Host Community suppliers and other SMMEs/new entrants.
- Ensure correct and appropriate application and interpretation of IP requirements.
- Contribute to the overall community and IP strategy.
- Support the implementation and progress monitoring of the strategic programmes.
- Implement change, engagement, and communication plans that will support the effective deployment of IP strategy, the achievement of our ambitions, and the celebration of achievements.
Modelling, Information & Reporting
- Provide area-specific input to the overall Inclusive Procurement scorecard and targets and support the performance tracking against these at the business level.
- Support the development of a future demand pipeline that will guide supplier development initiatives, performance, etc.
Commercial Value Delivery & Supplier Development
- Support implementation of IP initiatives in agreements by guiding the business and asset-based teams.
- Provide input to category portfolio and value delivery planning, support category IP strategy and sourcing plan development, commercial & initiative plans and agreements to ensure formal commitments are embedded.
- Support the implementation of new ways of working related to IP at the business level.
Partnerships & Suppliers
- Business-based oversight of established partnerships (incl. JV's) between large and HC suppliers.
- Support the implementation of IP initiatives across the BU, raise any issues to commercial teams and provide progress feedback.
- Effect continuous growth in the number of suitable IP suppliers (HC or otherwise) within relevant areas.
Compliance with Regulatory and Legislative Frameworks
- Educate and coach BU and asset-based teams on regulatory requirements and the AA position on these.
- Support the on-site BP team in preparing for external audit processes.
- Work with the IP Manager to understand regulatory requirements and develop the business plans aligned with the regional approach.
Sustainability & Social
- Manage the implementation of the company's social and sustainability strategies and initiatives related to Inclusive Procurement and how these contribute to sustainable mine plans.
- Support the implementation of the company's policy and standards on Communities and Inclusive Procurement, which reflect our sustainability, inclusion, and diversity ambitions and other national imperatives.
- Support engagement of host community suppliers, business forums, and relevant local governmental bodies.
People & Teams
- Support efforts to create awareness, capability building and excellence in Inclusive Procurement partnering and supplier development with asset-based teams.
- Establish, develop, and lead a team with the requisite strategic capabilities to drive the new strategic Inclusive Procurement programme.
- Identify, attract, and nurture Supply Chain talent and foster an inclusive and diverse team.
- Work with the CoE to develop and implement a regional PSC people capability framework and development plan and be responsible for implementing the plan in the region.
- Build team capabilities to enable resilient and agile competencies to ensure future-proof Inclusive Procurement efficiency.
Governance & Compliance
- Manage compliance to applicable legislative and company's procurement policies and procedures, site and end user-based support and education.
- Facilitate the development of the company's policy and standards on Communities and Inclusive Procurement, reflecting our sustainability, inclusion and diversity ambitions and other national imperatives.
- Manage compliance to internal company's and Supply Chain Governance requirements for all team members and on Inclusive Procurement activities in the relevant portfolio.
- Manage compliance with applicable legislative and company procurement policies and procedures.
Safety, Health, and Environment
- Identify ways to support specific safety, health, and sustainability opportunities and risks and ensure transactional purchasing activities comply with all Safety, Health, and environmental requirements.
- Coordinate the safe operation of the Inclusive Procurement environment, performing regular risk assessments, monitoring safety performance, and addressing any risks/issues immediately
- Drive and support compliance with relevant policies and standards and, particularly, the Contractor Performance Management policy & procedures to enable the achievement of gold-standard contractor safety performance
