About the position
Main Responsibilities
They are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Inbound Shift Manager to oversee all inbound operations during assigned shifts. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the receipt, inspection, and accurate recording of all incoming goods. You will play a key role in ensuring that inbound processes run efficiently, inventory accuracy is maintained, and stock is promptly and safely put away.
This role requires strong leadership, a keen eye for detail, and a hands-on approach to managing daily inbound activities and teams.
Key Duties Include:
- Supervise all inbound activities including receiving, unloading, inspection, and put-away of stock during your shift.
- Ensure that all incoming shipments are accurately verified against delivery notes and purchase orders.
- Coordinate with inventory and warehouse teams to ensure timely and correct binning of products.
- Monitor team performance, assign tasks, and provide on-shift supervision and guidance to ensure productivity and compliance.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in received stock (shortages, overages, or damages), and escalate unresolved issues.
- Track key inbound metrics such as receiving accuracy, dock-to-stock time, and put-away efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of all inbound transactions and ensure timely system updates in the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Enforce safety standards and proper handling procedures during unloading and stock movement.
- Collaborate with procurement, inventory, and quality assurance teams to ensure smooth inbound operations.
- Prepare and submit shift reports and operational feedback to senior management.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize inbound processes and reduce turnaround time.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Matric (Grade 12);
- Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operations Management is advantageous
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a warehouse supervisory or shift management role, with a focus on inbound operations
- Strong understanding of receiving and put-away processes, documentation, and system accuracy
- Proven leadership ability to manage and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment
- Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Familiarity with handling both Perishables and Dry Goods is a strong advantage
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
