About the position
Our client, a leading Chemical Manufacturing company based in Durban, is looking to fill the position of Inbound Controller.
Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for receiving and offloading functions and loading functions in the warehouse.
Key Responsibilities:
Maximise efficiency of stores operations:
- Ensure SHE is the number one priority on site.
- Ensure that the correct loads are attended to first.
- Operate the forklift safely, daily, or as when required, in line with safety standards and undertakes required inspections before using it.
- Receive all monomers, bulk raw materials and packaging items as well as all customer returns.
- Ensure all materials and packaging are stacked and stored safely in designated areas.
- Ensure all raw materials are labelled and coded using SAGE labels.
- Distribute daily dips of bulk tank readings of all materials.
- Check and record all used empty drums, polycans and mini bulks that are returned to suppliers and informs.
- Receipting the POD on to Sage, checking variances against weighbridge ticket.
- Perform weekly cycle counts of raw materials and finished goods.
- Assist with investigating variances.
- Issue samples of raw materials, substandard and finished goods when requested.
- Perform daily packaging stock counts.
- Capture stock onto SAGE once received.
- Supervise picking of stock for local, long-haul and export orders from sales as per picking slip.
- Ensure that goods selected, are sealed and containers that are in a good condition and labelled correctly and are the correct grade and batch number are on the packaging.
- Load finished goods break bulk trucks and offloads any return goods as directed.
- Supervise storage of finished goods in correct bay in the FG warehouse
- Ensure that the required standards are followed correctly and watch the stacking height for the mini bulks and palletized goods.
- Provide overall support in the stores department as and when required by the storeman.
- Coordinate the documents required for dispatching of product, when required.
- Ensure that all goods are stacked correctly to prevent damage.
Environmental Health and Safety:
- Ensure compliance to ISO 9001, ISO14001 and company safety standards and
- Implements and maintains LSS, PSM Policy and the 5's principles.
Qualifications / Experience / Competencies:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Computer literacy.
- Post matric certificate / qualification - at least 2 years
- 5 years' experience in a chemical stores' environment
