In-House Legal (Temp)
Our client, a leading player in the South African mining sector, is seeking an experienced In-House Legal Counsel / Commercial Lawyer to join their team on a 6-month temporary assignment.
The successful candidate will hold an LLB degree and be an admitted attorney, with at least three years' post-admission experience in commercial law or as in-house counsel. Group exposure would be advantageous, and familiarity with the mining sector's legislation and regulatory framework is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of commercial, corporate, and mining-related matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, including mining legislation.
- Support corporate governance activities, including board and shareholder matters, through the office of the Group Company Secretary.
- Manage disputes and litigation processes, coordinating with external counsel where necessary.
- Advise on mining law compliance, licensing, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- LLB degree, admitted attorney.
- Minimum of three years post-admission experience as an in-house legal counsel or commercial lawyer.
- Group or corporate experience would be advantageous.
- Exposure to the mining sector and familiarity with relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks preferred.
