About the position
Introduction
The position of ICT Senior Data Governance Specialist (MS Purview) is currently vacant. This role is a six (6) month fixed-term contract aligned to the operational requirements of the ICT Division. The incumbent will report directly to the Senior Manager: Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence and will be based at Head Office - Pretoria.
The total remuneration package will be between R92 463.00 and R115 579.00 per month dependent on skills and experience

Duties & Responsibilities
The ICT Senior Data Governance Specialist (MS Purview) will be required to provide support to the Senior Manager: Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence through the execution of the following Key Performance Areas (KPAs):
- Lead the implementation, configuration, and management of MicrosoftPurview as part of enterprise data governance initiatives.
- Establish and maintain data governance frameworks, standards, and policies aligned with organisational and regulatory requirements.
- Design and implement data cataloguing, classification, lineage, and policy management to enhance data discoverability and compliance.
- Collaborate with business units and technical teams to define data ownership, stewardship roles, and metadata management processes.
- Develop and manage data quality rules, dashboards, and monitoring processes to ensure integrity, consistency, and reliability of data.
- Drive data classification initiatives to support compliance with POPIA, GDPR, and other data protection legislation.
- Develop comprehensive training materials, documentation, and user guides for MicrosoftPurview and related governance practices.
- Conduct training and awareness sessions to build data governance capability across business and IT teams.
- Monitor and report on data governance KPIs, maturity levels, and program effectiveness, ensuring alignment to organisational strategy.
- Partner with data security, audit, and compliance teams to ensure alignment between governance and data protection frameworks.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualification Requirements:
- A Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, or a related discipline (NQFlevel6 or higher).
- Minimum of 8years' experience in data governance, data management, or related roles.
- Certification in Data Management or Governance (e.g., CDMP, DAMA, DCAM) will be advantageous.
- Proven hands-on experience with MicrosoftPurview implementation and administration.
- Strong knowledge of data governance principles (DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM).
- Experience in data quality management, metadata management, and data catalog maintenance.
- Exposure to Azure Data Services (DataFactory,Synapse,DataLake) and modern data platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to lead governance projects across business and IT environments.
