About the position

Introduction

The position of ICT Business Intelligence Specialist is vacant. The ICT Business Intelligence Specialist will report directly to the Senior Manager: Data Warehouse Analytics and BI and forms part of the Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Division. The position is based at Head Office, Pretoria.

The total remuneration package will be between R 954,930 and R1,193,734 based on the Scheme's Remuneration Policy and dependent on the candidate's skills and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

The ICT Business Intelligence Specialist will be required to support the Senior Manager: Data Warehouse Analytics and BI through the implementation of the following Key Performance Areas (KPAs):

  • Design, develop and maintain data warehouse solutions to support business decision-making
  • Create and optimize BI reporting solutions using Power BI and related tools
  • Implement and maintain data analytics platforms and visualization tools
  • Develop tabular and multidimensional models compliant with warehouse standards
  • Ensure data quality, integrity and security across all BI solutions
  • Analyze product, market and industry trends to build effective warehouse data models
  • Generate and deliver quality reports and dashboards for stakeholders
  • Develop self-service analytics models using Power BI and Power Platform services
  • Create automated reporting solutions for business performance monitoring
  • Conduct data analysis to identify trends and insights for decision support
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • Evaluate and improve existing BI systems (inhouse framework)
  • Maintain data warehouse design standards and best practices
  • Implement security measures and access controls
  • Conduct troubleshooting and quality assurance on BI models and reports
  • Support business users with functional and data requirements
  • Develop self-service analytics models using Power BI and Power Platform services
  • Create tabular and multidimensional models aligned with warehouse standards
  • Participate in project implementation and risk management
  • Provide input on budgeting and procurement processes
  • Maintain documentation and attend relevant forums/committees

Minimum Requirements
  • National Diploma or Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering
  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate
  • Advanced certificates advantageous

Skills
  • (Power BI Services, Gateway, Dataflow)
  • Data warehouse/lake design experience (Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Data Lake)
  • Strong understanding of BI application security models
  • Experience with version control systems (TFS, Git, DevOps)
  • Healthcare industry knowledge advantageous
