Leading pan-African investment bank and investment manager is recruiting an Associate for their Capital Hybrid Fund. Invests in the full spectrum of hybrid capital instruments, from subordinated debt through to preference shares, into Inclusive Financial Institutions ("IFIs"), digital finance and alternative credit businesses across Africa. The Fund is highly innovative and has strong support from the development finance community and single family offices.
The position is an opportunity to work in a technically demanding environment and in a growing investment management business.
Recruiting an Associate to join its newly established investment team in Nairobi.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparation of KYC documentation, due diligence request lists, and background checks on potential investees.
- Maintaining and reviewing dataroom contents and indexes.
- Reviewing historical financial statements, financial forecasts, and benchmarking analyses.
- Preparing and maintaining financial models to support investment analysis and decision-making.
- Assisting in the execution of transactions, including due diligence, structuring, documentation, and closing.
- Preparing Investment Committee ("IC") memoranda.
- Coordinating due diligence and information requests.
- Preparing covenant analyses against historical and forecast financials, as well as the Fund's investment criteria.
- Checking and reviewing loan agreements against agreed term sheets.
- Drafting announcements and other communications.
- Researching, selecting, and preparing relevant articles and market intelligence.
- Preparing IC minutes.
- Updating investment pipelines.
- Updating presentations relating to the Fund.
- Participating in meetings with the Fund's investors, prospective investors, and other partners, and preparing materials for such meetings.
QUALIFIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Degree-level qualifications in Economics, Business, Finance, Accounting, Investments, or a related field.
- At least three years of experience in audit, investing, investment banking, management consulting, or development finance.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas would be highly advantageous:
- Financial institutions;
- Credit investing/analysis; or
- Private capital investing.
- Strong analytical, financial modelling, and communication skills.
