HVAC Technician - Pharmaceutical Industry

About the position

Our client is looking for an HVAC Technician to join their team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing maintenance, servicing, and repair work on air conditioning and refrigeration systems, supervising HVAC Assistants, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment
  
  
• Maintain temperature-controlled and relative humidity (RH) controlled areas
  
  
• Supervise and coordinate the work of HVAC Assistants
  
  
• Diagnose and resolve HVAC system issues efficiently and timeously
  
  
• Install HVAC components and systems, including split units and control systems
  
  
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical HVAC faults
  
  
• Maintain filters (primary, secondary, and HEPA) in accordance with regulations
  
  
• Complete and record service documentation
  
  
• Oversee HVAC-related projects
  
  
• Communicate daily with the Line Manager
  
  
• Ensure high-quality output and uphold good housekeeping practices
  
  
• Ensure all HVAC work is performed in a safe manner, in compliance with relevant safety regulations and standards
  
  
• Conduct safety audits on HVAC systems, ducting, and environmental controls
  
  

Requirements:

• Matric
  
  
• HVAC / Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Trade Test
  
  
• 3 to 5 years of experience in commercial or industrial HVAC systems (pharmaceutical industry experience is advantageous)
  
  
• Strong skills in testing, troubleshooting, and fault-finding
  
  
• Good understanding of electrical and control circuits
  
  
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends when required
  
  
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
  
  
• Understanding of cGMP and GEP principles (advantageous)
