Our client within the FMCG manufacturing sector is seeking an experienced Human Resources Officer to support the business through strategic and operational HR initiatives. The successful candidate will partner with management to drive recruitment, employee relations, performance management, talent development, compliance, and organisational effectiveness across the business.
This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who has worked within a unionised manufacturing environment and is passionate about building high-performing teams while ensuring compliance with labour legislation and HR best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Business Partnering
- Partner with management to align HR strategies with business objectives.
- Support workforce planning, recruitment, selection, onboarding, and employee retention initiatives.
- Provide guidance to management on all HR-related matters.
- Drive employee engagement and organisational development initiatives.
Recruitment & Talent Management
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment and selection process.
- Coordinate onboarding and induction programmes.
- Identify succession planning and talent development opportunities.
- Support performance management and employee development initiatives.
Employee Relations
- Manage employee relations matters, grievances, disciplinary processes, and dispute resolution.
- Represent the organisation during conciliations, arbitrations, and collective bargaining processes.
- Interpret labour legislation and collective agreements.
- Promote positive employee relations within a unionised environment.
Training & Development
- Coordinate employee training and development programmes.
- Assist with Skills Development initiatives and Workplace Skills Plans.
- Support Employment Equity planning and implementation.
- Coordinate the submission of annual Employment Equity reports.
HR Administration & Compliance
- Ensure HR data integrity and accurate employee records.
- Maintain employee benefits administration.
- Coordinate benefit enrolments and employee communication.
- Investigate workplace incidents where required.
- Ensure compliance with labour legislation, company policies, and HR best practices.
Strategic HR Support
- Lead HR-related projects, including organisational development, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support payroll best practices and HR process optimisation.
- Analyse HR metrics and provide management with meaningful reports and recommendations.
- Influence business decisions through data analysis and HR insights.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management or related qualification.
- Minimum 5–8 years' HR experience within an FMCG manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 5 years' Human Resources Management experience within a unionised manufacturing environment.
- Experience representing employers during CCMA conciliations, arbitrations, and collective bargaining processes.
- Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Own reliable transport.
