Job Purpose
The HR Officer plays a strategic and operational role in supporting the effective delivery of human resource services across the organisation. This includes implementing and maintaining HR practices, policies, and initiatives that support talent attraction, employee engagement, performance management, learning and development, employee relations, and compliance with labour legislation. The HR Officer serves as a key liaison between employees, management, and the broader HR function, ensuring consistent application of HR standards while fostering a positive and productive workplace culture.

Required Qualifications

  • A degree in Human Resource Management (NQF 6 or higher)

Experience & Functional Competencies

  • HR Generalist Experience: 3-5 years of comprehensive human resources experience across key HR functions.
  • SAP HR Proficiency: Minimum of 2 years' experience working with SAP HR systems, including Compensation, ESS, and MSS.
  • Legislative Knowledge: Strong understanding and practical application of South African HR legislation, including the Skills Development Act, Labour Relations Act (LRA), Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), and Employment Equity Act (EEA).
  • Skills Development Facilitation: 1-2 years' experience as a Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) with relevant interaction and reporting to a SETA.
  • Technical & Data Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret, validate, and present HR data to support decision-making and compliance reporting.
  • Employee Benefits: Familiarity with employee benefits administration is advantageous.

  • Ability to produce error-free work, especially when handling HR data, reports, and compliance documentation.

Confidentiality:

  • Demonstrates discretion and maintains strict confidentiality when dealing with sensitive employee information and HR matters.

Attention to Detail:

  • Strong focus on detail to ensure accuracy and integrity in HR processes, records, and reporting.

Facilitation Skills:

  • Proven ability to effectively facilitate group sessions such as training, performance discussions, and employee engagement initiatives.

Analytical and Data Interpretation Skills:

  • Strong ability to analyse HR metrics, interpret data trends, and use insights to support strategic decision-making.

Key Outputs

  • Provide clarity on company HR policies, benefits and procedures to all employees.
  • Extract HR reports from the HR reporting tool when required.
  • Assist with the consolidation of all HR data.
  • Managing the on-boarding for all new employees,
  • Coordinate and administer all other HR functions such as learning and development, remuneration and benefits and talent and performance management.
  • Manage employee queries on all HR related matters.
  • Act as the change champion for improvements in HR processes and systems by explaining the benefits to all employees.
  • Ensure a basic understanding of all Talent & Learning and Development processes and policies.
  • Manage the Talent & Learning and Development calendar.
  • Administer all skills development statutory reports and audits.
  • Refer to Annexure for detail output/deliverables

Annexure A
HR Administration

  • Processes, verifies and maintains personnel-related documentation, including staffing, recruitment and termination processes in line with Group Policies.
  • Conduct effective onboarding
  • Administer and maintain employee personnel files and employee personal data in SAP.
  • Administer the selection process align to the recruitment policy.
  • Capture and prepare EE and employee data for audit, EE and BBBEE Verification purposes.
  • Ensure data integrity

  • Manage day to day training administration and coordination
  • Capture and prepare L&D data for audit and BEE Verification purposes.
  • Manage CA and Disability Learnerships
  • Assist with talent review and preparation of relevant documents.
  • Coordinate and facilitate talent awareness initiatives.
  • Coordinate and facilitate performance management initiatives.
  • Coordinate and facilitate culture intervention initiatives.
  • Compile status reports on performance contracting, reviews and IDP submissions
  • Administer the company's bursary scheme.
