Location: Benoni, Gauteng
Job Purpose
Promote and maintain a safe, healthy and legally compliant workplace by coordinating occupational health, safety, security, training and environmental compliance activities. Drive injury prevention, employee wellness and a proactive safety culture across the foundry.
Requirements
- National Diploma or Degree in Safety Management, Environmental Health, Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
- SAMTRAC or equivalent HSE qualification.
- Incident Investigation/RCA training advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years' HSE experience in a manufacturing, engineering or foundry environment.
- Experience in occupational health, incident investigations, COIDA/RMA administration and statutory compliance.
Knowledge
- Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
- COIDA/RMA processes.
- HIRA and risk management.
- Incident Investigation and RCA.
- Occupational health and medical surveillance.
- HSE management systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Occupational Health & Wellness: Coordinate clinic services, medical examinations, confidential health records and employee wellness programmes.
- Health & Safety: Implement the HSE Management System, conduct inspections and risk assessments, monitor legal compliance, investigate hazards and near misses, and track corrective actions.
- Incident & Accident Management: Attend and investigate incidents, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), prepare reports and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- RMA / COIDA: Manage occupational injury and disease claims, maintain records and liaise with employees, medical providers and relevant authorities.
- Security: Support after-hours security incidents, investigate breaches and coordinate with security service providers.
- Training: Coordinate statutory HSE training, including training for Managers, Foremen and Health & Safety Representatives, and maintain legal appointment and training records.
- Emergency Preparedness: Coordinate emergency procedures and drills and ensure emergency equipment is inspected and maintained.
- Environmental Compliance: Support compliance with environmental requirements and company initiatives.
