About the position
A new position in a process engineering company, established in 2007. The position is based in Edenvale JHB but will be required to provide HR function to the Cape Town operations as well. Business Travel to Cape Town is therefore part of the duties of this position. Position reports to the Management Team, but is accountable to the Financial Director under the mentorship of an external HR Consultant. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Applicants MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS The position is contract for 12 months or until the business demands that the position becomes permanent. The performance and ability of the HR appointed practitioner to integrate her/himself into a small but highly professional and hard working management team will be critical to a permanent appointment. Full HR generalist responsibilities including Industrial Relations, Employment Equity, Skills development and BBB-EE,
- at least 10 or more years hands-on HR GENERALIST EXPERIENCE in all of the areas mentioned above including but not limited to preparation and submitting the necessary EE reports and WSP/ATR reports. preparing the BBB-EE file and documents for BEE assessment and verification,
- a solid understanding of BBB-EE for small and medium sized companies and how to ensure that the BBB EE score cards are maximised to earn points for BEE verification. -
- Companies are currently EE non designated with less than 50 staff in each of the two companies but with a total headcount of 80 permanent staff overall.
- HR admin, leave, sick leave, medical aid and staff counselling,
- Patterson job evaluation to ensure jobs are graded properly
- Advanced Excel, MS word, email and high grade business English and be able to write business reports and own correspondence.
- Discipline and investigations; assisting Line management with staff issues
- The ability to implement existing HR policies and procedures and develop new HR policies and procedures as well as develop Standard operating procedures (SOP) for day to day routine activities such as: Time and attendance processes; leave planning process for managers; succession plannning; Performance reviews process etc etc.
- Knowledge of writing job descriptions using the Paterson system and how to integrate the various jobs in a department to add value to the core function/deliverables of the department.
- Compensation planning and management - to ensure EE requirements are met and staff are properly compensated,
An appropriate degree in HR or Labour Law is preferred but not essential., however the experience detailed above is absolutely non negotiable. So we will expect applicants to be able to meet the requirements as stated above from day 1. Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience in an engineering manufacturing or liquid process engineering business.
