About the position
We are seeking a Human Resources Business Practitioner with a robust understanding of South African labour law and exceptional skills in IR with a strong ability to manage administrative and transactional HR functions. The ideal candidate will support the operations in ensuring seamless HR and IR operations, compliance, and the effective execution of HR and IR processes and services.
- Key Responsibilities:
- HR Administration:
- Maintain accurate employee records, databases, and HR systems.
- Process HR documentation such as contracts, letters, and compliance paperwork.
- Manage employee onboarding, induction, and offboarding processes.
- Transactional HR:
- Assist with payroll inputs, leave management, and benefits administration.
- Performance management processes and probation reviews.
- Recruitment and selection. Facilitate recruitment logistics, including interview scheduling and candidate communications.
- Compliance & Labour Law:
- Ensure all HR practices adhere to South African labour laws and internal policies.
- Provide guidance to line management on employment legislation, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.
- Assist in preparing for enquiries, conciliations and arbitrations.
- Able to manage conciliations.
- Compile and maintain documentation for hearings and legal compliance audits.
- Conduct investigations, draft charges and participate in enquiries.
- Employee Relations:
- Act as a point of contact for employee queries related to HR policies and procedures.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and wellness programs.
- Reporting & Metrics:
- Generate HR reports and analytics for management decision-making.
- Track key HR metrics (e.g., turnover rates, absenteeism, compliance deadlines).
Preferred Qualifications:
HR certification (e.g., SABPP, HRPA) is an advantage.
- Experience in a fast-paced and unionised environment.
- Familiarity with payroll software and HRIS.
