About the position

Postion Summary:
The main purpose of the job is to provide housekeeping to SARAO. Ensure the offices and other venues is kept in a clean and safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean and maintain the entire building (offices, kitchens and toilets area using the necessary equipment)Ensure tea and coffee are available to all staff daily as requiredSupport caterers during official and internal events/functions to ensure that everything runs smoothEnsure the venue preparation/setup for official event/ functions are done timeouslyEnsure venues are clean and prepared according to the required set up for staff trainingClean bins daily and take it to the off-site area for sorting Ensure worksheets are kept up to dateAssist with replenishment and purchase of general goods / cleaning materials stockAssist with stock take for consumables, cleaning materials and other items within the facilities

Minimum Qualification:

• Grade 10 / National Certificate / Vocational 2 / N1 / NQF 2

Minimum Experience:

• 2-2 years

• Grade 10Grade 12 (advantageous) A valid code B driver’s license (advantageous)

Experience:

• Two (2) years’ experience in housekeeping & assisting catering services in an office environment

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of cleaning, sanitizing products and methods, including sensitive materialsCleaning chemicals and its various useCleaning ablution facilities, kitchen and officesHealth and safety policy and procedures

The National Research Foundation (NRF) supports and promotes research and human capital development through funding, the provision of National Research Facilities and science outreach platforms and programmes to the broader community in all fields of science and technology, including natural sciences, engineering, social sciences and humanities. The South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO), a facility of the National Research Foundation, is responsible for managing all radio astronomy initiatives and facilities in South Africa, including the MeerKAT Radio Telescope in the Karoo, and the Geodesy and VLBI activities at the HartRAO facility. SARAO also coordinates the African Very Long Baseline Interferometry Network (AVN) for the eight SKA partner countries in Africa, as well as South Africa’s contribution to the infrastructure and engineering planning for the Square Kilometre Array Radio Telescope. To maximise the return on South Africa’s investment in radio astronomy, SARAO is managing programmes to create capacity in radio astronomy science and engineering research, and the technical capacity required to support site operations.
