About the position

Postion Summary:
iThemba LABS seeks to a appoint a Housekeeper to assist with cleaning of general [URL Removed] This role within the RSHEQ division, entails cleaning and maintaining a hygienic environment of general premises such as offices, corridors and laboratories. To make tea/coffee as required and report all identifiable damages/unsafe equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cleaning of offices, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways and other work areas to meet health andsafety standards
• Cleaning of carpets, upholstered furniture using vacuum cleaners and/or shampoos
• Washing dishes, cleaning kitchens and emptying office wastebaskets
• Sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, and/or polishing floors, using brooms, mops, and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines
• Dusting and polishing furniture and equipment and keeping storage areas clean and tidy
• Observing precautions required to company property and report damage, theft and found articles to supervisor
• Serving food and beverages as directed and any other general housekeeping duties
• Optimal use and handling of cleaning equipment and cleaning materials

Minimum Requirements:

Qualification:

• Grade 11

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years general housekeeping/cleaning services experience in an industrial/commercial setting
• Experience in safe use of industrial cleaning materials and equipment

Knowledge:

• Customer service orientated
• Dependable and hard working
• Ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision
• A dedicated team-player
• Trustworthy and integrity
• Good communication skills and familiar with good housekeeping practices
• Safety orientated e.g. safe handling of cleaning equipment and materials
• Proficiency in English and one other official language
