About the position
Role Overview:
An established Hotel & Conference Centre situated in a scenic destination environment is seeking an experienced and dynamic Hotel General Manager to lead all aspects of operations.
This role requires a hands-on hospitality leader responsible for the overall performance, guest experience, commercial success, staff leadership, property management, and operational excellence of the hotel.
The successful candidate will oversee accommodation operations, conferencing and events, food & beverage services, maintenance, grounds, and revenue generation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Operational Management
- Assume full operational responsibility for the hotel.
- Ensure seamless day-to-day running of all departments.
- Maintain exceptional guest service standards.
- Drive operational efficiency across rooms, F&B, conferencing, and support services.
- Implement and maintain SOPs aligned with hospitality best practice.
- Commercial & Revenue Management
- Drive occupancy, ADR, and overall revenue growth.
- Develop and execute sales strategies for:
- Conferences
- Weddings & functions
- Leisure tourism
- Corporate bookings
- Monitor budgets, forecasts, and profitability.
- Control costs while maintaining service excellence.
- Leadership & Staff Management
- Recruit, train, and develop hotel staff.
- Lead departmental heads and operational teams.
- Foster a positive performance-driven culture.
- Manage staff scheduling, productivity, and HR compliance.
- Maintain high levels of employee engagement and accountability.
- Guest Experience & Brand Standards
- Act as primary host and ambassador for the property.
- Ensure consistently high guest satisfaction scores.
- Resolve guest concerns professionally and proactively.
- Maintain reputation across online platforms and repeat clientele.
- Facilities, Maintenance & Grounds Management
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs.
- Manage property upkeep, landscaping, and infrastructure.
- Coordinate contractors and service providers.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hospitality regulations.
- Sales, Marketing & Community Engagement
- Build relationships with corporate clients, travel agents, and event planners.
- Promote the property within local tourism networks.
- Drive repeat business and strategic partnerships.
- Support marketing initiatives and promotional campaigns.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) - Essential
- Hospitality or related tertiary qualification - Preferred
- Minimum 10+ years' full-service hotel management experience
- Proven experience managing:
- Rooms Division
- Food & Beverage
- Conferencing & Events
- Resort or destination properties
- Strong financial and commercial acumen
- Valid Driver's License and own reliable vehicle
- Willingness to reside on-site (Live-In role)
