Horticulturalist at Pezula Nature Retreat

We are currently searching for a horticulturalist to join our dynamic team Pezula Nature Retreat.

You will be assisting in preparation of conceptual and schematic design plants and reports. Responsible to manage and supervise the team to ensure that all projects are completed efficiently and to the required standards.

Minimum requirements

• Matric
• Qualification in Horticulture
• Recognised landscape architectural professional certification
• 2-3 years previous experience in medium to large gardens
• Strong landscaping architectural and project management skills
• Knowledge of design trends, techniques, materials, and world class practice
• Proven track record and a strong portfolio that demonstrates excellence in design
• Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary design and delivery teams

Duties and responsibilities

• To liaise with clients, understand the project scope in accordance with the project requirements and deliver excellence in design.
• Establish general landscape requirements with clients.
• Prepare detailed plans and drawings of the designs for projects construction details and specifications.
• Hotel gardens to be immaculately manicured and maintained.
• Irrigation system to be efficiently operational.
• Ensure gardens and nursery are aesthetically pleasing.
• Ensuring plants in the rooms are up to standard and regularly looked after.
• Assist the kitchen in the vegetable and herb gardens - ensuring it's maintained and always has plants available.
• Establish suitable controls for energy and water conservation.
• Establish and maintain recycling Centre.
• Lead Design team from concept to construction documentation
• Ensure that Recruitment Process is followed and team consists of efficiently skilled staff.
• Understanding of facilities and residential management.
• Understanding of the annual extensive care and maintenance programs..
