Job Title: Heritage Officer: Development Applications Unit (DAU). Department: Heritage Conservation Management. Location: Cape Town and Pretoria SAHRA office. (Position can be based in either Cape Town or Pretoria) - depending on the candidate's current location. Approved Grade: C3. The total cost of salary: R277 983.00 per annum. To assist the manager and senior heritage officer of the Development Applications Unit (DAU) to manage heritage resources in relation to s38 development applications, and to provide technical and administrative support to the unit.

At least an Honours degree in Heritage Related Field (Archaeology, Palaeontology, Historical Built Environment, Anthropology) preferably with a focus on Heritage Resources Management.
Minimum of 3 years' work experience in the field of Heritage Resources Management.
Heritage and Environmental Legislation.
Geographical Information Systems.
Stakeholder Engagement.
Project Management and Planning.
Ability to read, analyse, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from applicants, regulatory agencies, or members of the public. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information management, public groups, and/or council.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
