About the position

Our client is looking for a hands-on Senior SHEQ Officer / Manager to support and maintain site-level Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality compliance within a manufacturing / FMCG environment.

This role is suited to someone who is strong on safety systems, compliance, documentation, audits, incident reporting and site safety culture. The successful candidate will report to the Site Manager and will play a key role in ensuring that safety standards, legal requirements, contractor compliance and internal SHEQ procedures are properly implemented and maintained.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing, implementing and maintaining compliant safety management systems.
  • Monitoring workplace activities to ensure safe work practices and legal compliance.
  • Reviewing and updating safety policies, procedures and safe work instructions.
  • Managing SHE documentation, safety files and contractor compliance records.
  • Ensuring visitors and contractors are properly inducted.
  • Supporting toolbox talks, safety meetings and site awareness campaigns.
  • Coordinating audits and ensuring reported issues are followed up and resolved.
  • Preparing compliance reports and maintaining accurate HSE records.
  • Assisting with incident investigations, non-conformance reporting and close-out actions.
  • Supporting emergency preparedness plans, drills and evacuation activities.
  • Checking that emergency equipment is available, inspected and compliant.
  • Promoting a proactive safety culture across the site.
  • Supporting continuous improvement in safety, compliance, food safety and quality culture.

Minimum Requirements

  • SAMTRAC qualification.
  • 3-5 years' relevant SHEQ / Safety experience.
  • Experience in FMCG or manufacturing will be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety compliance.
  • Experience with safety management systems, audits, risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Strong documentation, reporting and administration skills.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
