Health and Safety Coordinator at South African Astronomical Observatory

About the position

The purpose of the post is to provide support in developing, implementing and maintaining the Health and Safety Management system within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure a safe working environment.
• Facilitate site health and safety meetings
• Support in developing, implementing and maintaining the Health and Safety Management system
• Health and safety training on site
• Identification of the hazards and risks relevant to the SAAO.
• Regular coordinated site inspections.

Key Requirements:

Qualification:

• Higher Certificate in Health & Safety Management or equivalent
• Valid SACPCMP registration as a Health and Safety Officer

Experience:

• 3 years health and safety coordinator experience in Public Sector and National System of Innovation
• Code B driver's license

Knowledge:

• HIRA
• Health & Safety Management Systems
• Accident/incident Investigation Training
• COIDA Act Training
• ISO Systems
