About the position

Postion Summary:
This role within the RSHEQ division will assist in the implementation of legal compliance with all relevant Safety, Health and Environmental Management Legislation and Regulations.

Purpose: The incumbent will be responsible for compiling, implementing, maintain and updating when required, a comprehensive Safety, Health and Environmental Management system. In addition, to assess and monitor safety compliance requirements, keeping record of defects and incidents, assessing and overseeing procedures, tasks execution and emergency response coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

• Consider legal requirements, best practices and internal health and safety requirements and advise the employer on follow up actions
• Plan, organise and coordinate meetings together with the committee's Chair/Secretariat
• Coordinate, monitor and manage the establishment of OHSA committee
• Prepare, coordinate and facilitate signing of appointment letters by members of the committee
• Identify competency training requirements
• Risk Assessment, Safety representative, incident investigations etc.
• Maintain records in the Information Management System
• Ensuring that administration of SHE legal requirements and SHE Audits are up-to-date and in place

Minimum Qualification:

• NQF level 5 - Health and Safety Practitioner

Experience:

• 3 years' experience as a Safety Practitioner in a manufacturing environment
• Experience in working in industrial environments in health and safety management systems
• Experience in conducting HIRA's and implementation of corrective actions to reduce risks and hazards in the workplace
• Experience in conducting incident investigations and providing preventative and corrective actions
• Computer literacy

Knowledge:

• Relevant acts, legislation and regulation
• Knowledge of Quality Management

• OHS Administration processes
• Knowledge of all relevant acts, regulations, SANS standards and legislation pertaining to environmental, health and safety in the work place
