About the position

A well-known and established company requires the above to monitor regulatory developments, legislative changes, and policy trends affecting the chemical and allied industries. The successful candidate will analyse emerging regulatory requirements to identify potential impacts that this will have on the company's members. The candidate will also review regulatory updates promptly to ensure stakeholders remain informed with regard to proposed legislation, policies, and industry developments.
Minimum requirements for the role:

  • A BComm LLB degree is preferred for this role. Governance and affairs-related education with a focus on governance-related affairs is preferred, with an understanding of legislation. Experience engaging with government departments, regulatory authorities, industry associations, or stakeholder groups, as well as being able to interpret legislation, regulations, and policy documents.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and policy development processes with the ability to interpret complex legislation and regulatory documentation, as well as demonstrating strong analytical ability with the capacity to interpret regulatory texts and assess industry impacts.
  • Previous experience working within the regulatory and policy environment. Ideally within the chemical industry is preferred but not essential.
  • The Successful candidate will look at Risks that may be detrimental to member companies in the chemical industry as well as any investments that may come into the country.
  • Must have good Interpersonal/negotiating influencing skills and a strong ability to build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring regulatory developments, legislative changes, and policy trends affecting the chemical and allied industries.   • Monitoring regulatory developments, legislative changes, and policy trends affecting the chemical and allied industries.
  • Capturing and analysing emerging regulatory requirements to identify potential impacts on members and the broader industry.
  • Reviewing and summarising regulatory updates promptly to ensure stakeholders remain informed.
  • Assessing regulatory risks and opportunities associated with proposed legislation, policies, and industry developments.
  • Conducting research into specific regulatory and policy matters as required.
  • Representing the company on industry bodies, committees, working groups, and external forums as required.
  • Advocating for responsible and sustainable chemical industry practices through effective policy engagement.
  • Engaging with regulatory authorities, government departments, industry organisations, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Influencing policy discussions by providing informed industry perspectives and evidence-based recommendations.
  • Contributing to strategic initiatives that strengthen the organisation’s role as the leading representative body for the chemical value chain.

Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
