About the position
The Head of Transformation is a senior leadership role responsible for defining, directing and integrating the organisation’s transformation and social investment agenda.
The role provides enterprise-wide stewardship, ensuring alignment, coherence and impact across initiatives, while advising Exco, the Social & Ethics Committee and the Board on strategy, performance and governance.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Transformation & BBBEE Stewardship
- Provide strategic oversight of the organisation’s transformation and BBBEE agenda, ensuring full alignment with legislation and applicable codes.
- Guide and optimise performance across key elements including skills development, enterprise and supplier development, and broader transformation levers.
- Provide assurance on verification processes, compliance integrity and ongoing improvement of scorecard outcomes.
Strategy Leadership & Integration
- Define and drive an integrated and Transformation strategy aligned to organisational priorities, regulatory expectations and long-term sustainability objectives
- Provide enterprise-wide direction by integrating and aligning initiatives into a coherent, high impact transformation agenda
- Act as a strategic advisor to Exco, the Social & Ethics Committee and the Board, providing forward-looking insights on transformation, ESG and social impact.
Portfolio Rationalisation & Value Assessment
- Define and continuously refine a strategically aligned and transformation portfolio, ensuring optimal focus, balance and impact
- Evaluate programmes and initiatives to ensure relevance, sustainability and value contribution to organisational and societal outcomes
- Drive portfolio-level decision-making, including prioritisation, continuation or exit of initiatives based on performance, impact and strategic fit
Stakeholder Leadership & Enterprise Alignment
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key external partners, institutions and stakeholders to enhance impact and collaboration
- Provide strategic guidance to internal divisions to ensure alignment and integration of transformation-related initiatives across the business
- Act as a central point of strategic alignment, enabling consistency, coherence and shared accountability across the organisation.
Integrated Reporting & Impact Measurement
- Define and oversee an integrated approach to reporting across , transformation and ESG-related activities
- Ensure the development of credible impact measurement frameworks, translating outcomes into clear, decision-useful insights
- Provide high-quality reporting to Exco, the Social & Ethics Committee and the Board, ensuring clarity on performance, risks, outcomes and opportunities
- Position reporting as a strategic tool to guide decision-making, strengthen accountability and enhance organisational credibility.
Financial Stewardship & Resource Allocation
- Own and manage the and Transformation budget, ensuring disciplined allocation of resources aligned to strategic priorities
- Oversee funding decisions and programme spend to maximise impact and value, while maintaining strong financial governance
- Provide financial oversight and insights at executive and governance level, ensuring efficient utilisation of resources and mitigation of wasteful expenditure.
Leadership & People Management
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, ensuring clarity of roles, accountability and delivery excellence
- Build organisational capability in transformation, and impact management through coaching, development and knowledge-sharing
- Oversee performance management, succession planning and capability building within the function
Governance, Risk & Policy Direction
- Establish and maintain robust governance frameworks for and Transformation, including funding models, due diligence standards and partner oversight mechanisms
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, governance and internal policy requirements, maintaining high standards of accountability and transparency
- Oversee risk management across the portfolio, including reputational, financial and operational risks
- Provide direction on policy development and continuous strengthening of frameworks supporting transformation and
Ad hoc
- From time-to-time work collaboratively with others on other Ad hoc projects
- Carry out any other reasonable tasks.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- BCom degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Business Administration, Commerce, Law, Human Resources or a related field at NQF Level 7.
- Postgraduate NQF Level 8 qualification in Social Sciences, Administration, or related field.
- Masters NQF Level 9 will be advantageous.
- B-BBEE/Transformation-related certification/qualification is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years at senior management level experience in / sustainability / ESG, Strategy development and execution
- At least five (5) years working experience in B-BBEE consulting is preferred.
- Proven experience in managing large budgets and working with NGOs/NPOs and external partners as well as Executive-level stakeholder engagement.
