About the position
Background:
Ecellent career opportunity for a Head of Temporary Employment Services to spearhead & grow the company's national TES operations
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Law, or a related field will be advantageous
- 10-12 Years of progressive experience with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or divisional management role
- Minimum 10 – 12 years of experience in the Temporary Employment Services / Labour Broking industry
- Proven experience managing a large-scale workforce
- Experience in managing large volumes of semi-skilled/unskilled labour, specifically within the construction sector
- Demonstrated success in sales, client relationship management, and business development across multiple industries
- Proven track record of managing and leading multi-regional teams across a national footprint
- Deep understanding of South African labour legislation (LRA, BCEA, EE Act, etc.) & best practices in HR and Industrial Relations
- Ability to drive client satisfaction, manage complex contracts, and achieve operational targets including headcount, gross margin, and debtor control
- Project management experience is advantageous
- Strategic thinker with the ability to contribute at an Executive Committee level
- Exposure to Clients in key national sectors, including mining, energy (e.g., Eskom), construction, and industrial services
- Passion for transformation, economic inclusion, and delivering measurable impact through people
- Willingness to travel nationally and lead a geographically dispersed team
- Direct reporting experience to the Divisional CEO
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a national growth strategy for the TES division, aligning with company’s overall objectives and growth aspirations focusing on Client acquisition, revenue generation, and market penetration
- Oversee and guide Regional Managers across provinces, ensuring excellence in service delivery, profitability, and Client satisfaction
- Formulate and execute strategies for the expansion of the division into new, more skilled blue-collar labour segments (e.g., Electricians, Fitters, Boilermakers), leveraging existing Client relationships and identifying new market opportunities
- Oversee the operational lifecycle of temporary placements, from Client acquisition support to contract completion for both current and future service lines
- Drive profitability and growth targets for the division
- Responsible for key performance indicators including overall headcount management, gross margin achievement and control, and effective management of debtors
- Leverage extensive industry networks to expand company’s Client base across blue-collar and white-collar segments, including sectors such as mining, construction, energy, manufacturing, and logistics
- Champion Client satisfaction, ensuring all service level agreements (SLAs) and contractual obligations are met or exceeded
- Build scalable solutions to address Client’s workforce challenges, supported by compliant, ethical labour broking practices
- Ensure efficient and compliant execution of all temporary employment contracts through the regional management team, with a focus on high-volume semi-skilled/unskilled placements
- Develop and implement best practices for operational processes, resource allocation, and quality control
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track divisional performance and identify areas for improvement
- Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and guidance to 6 Regional Managers, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high performance across the regions
- Ensure strict adherence to all relevant labour legislation, including the Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, and other industry-specific regulations
- Provide strategic guidance on complex IR matters, collaborating with the HR/IR teams to mitigate risks
- Oversee workforce management practices, including recruitment, on-boarding, performance management, and disciplinary processes for the semi-skilled/unskilled workforce
- Oversee specific Client projects, ensuring delivery on time and within scope
- Ensure all divisional activities are in full compliance with company policies, industry standards, and statutory requirements
- Identify, assess, and mitigate operational, contractual, and HR/IR risks within the division
- Ensure alignment with South African labour legislation, TES regulations, and Group governance frameworks
