About the position
A global leader in the earthmoving industry is looking for a "Head of Parts" to join their team in JHB East Rand. Individuals who apply must have a strong understanding of the parts business in OEMs and strong Excel / BI skills.
The Head of Parts – EMT is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational management, and commercial performance of the EMT Parts business. The role is accountable for all Parts-related activities including, but not limited to, sales and marketing of spare parts, parts procurement, inventory management, warehousing operations, supply chain optimization, branch and depot Parts support, customer supply agreements, and Parts business development. The incumbent is responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth, maximizing Parts availability, improving customer satisfaction, optimizing inventory investment, and ensuring the Parts business contributes positively to the overall profitability and strategic objectives of the EMT Division. Through effective leadership, business planning, customer engagement, commercial management, and continuous improvement initiatives, the Head of Parts will ensure the long-term success, competitiveness, and operational excellence of the EMT Parts business while fostering a high-performance culture within the Parts team.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and business profitability.
Lead change management initiatives and foster innovation within the Parts business.
Commercial Management
Develop and execute strategies to maximize Parts sales revenue and profitability.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, factories, and internal stakeholders.
Develop, negotiate, implement, and manage customer supply agreements and Parts contracts.
Provide commercial updates and performance reviews to customers and management.
Support customers in achieving agreed KPIs and operational objectives.
Assist Sales and Service departments with tenders, contracts, and commercial opportunities requiring Parts support.
Inventory and Supply Chain Management
Oversee Parts procurement, warehousing, inventory control, and distribution activities.
Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize stockholding and Parts availability.
Minimize obsolete, redundant, and excess inventory while maintaining agreed service levels.
Monitor and improve stock turn performance and inventory utilization.
Ensure effective forecasting and inventory planning based on machine populations, customer demand, market trends, and economic projections.
Develop and maintain inventory strategies that support business growth while minimizing working capital requirements.
Operational Management
Ensure effective communication and collaboration between Parts, Service, Sales, Branches, Depots, and other business functions.
Maintain and continuously improve Parts operational processes and procedures.
Drive compliance with standards, policies, procedures, and operational requirements.
Ensure timely support and availability of Parts for both internal and external customer requirements.
Oversee the implementation and maintenance of Parts-related systems and reporting structures.
Performance Management and Reporting
Monitor and analyze departmental KPIs and business performance metrics.
Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports.
Report on sales performance, inventory levels, gross profit, stock turn, WIP, quotations, credits, forecast accuracy, and operational performance.
Develop business forecasts and action plans to address performance gaps.
Supply factories with local market intelligence and pricing information.
Customer and Market Development
Meet regularly with customers, branches, dealers, and third-party stakeholders to strengthen relationships and identify business opportunities.
Develop and implement Parts marketing initiatives to increase market penetration and customer loyalty.
Promote Parts solutions and value-added services within the EMT market.
Support the expansion of customer participation agreements and long-term business partnerships.
Leadership and People Management
Lead, mentor, develop, and manage the Parts team to ensure high performance and employee engagement.
Establish clear objectives and performance expectations for direct reports.
Identify organizational capability gaps and implement training and development plans.
Delegate responsibilities effectively while maintaining appropriate levels of control and accountability.
Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
Support succession planning and long-term organizational development within the Parts function.
Governance, Compliance and Continuous Improvement
Develop, maintain, and enforce Parts-related policies, procedures, and business standards.
Ensure compliance with all applicable company policies, legal requirements, and Group directives.
Monitor and drive achievement of Parts Excellence standards and audit requirements.
Identify operational risks and implement corrective actions proactively.
Lead initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, accuracy, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
