About the position
The Head of Law School will lead the strategic and operational management of the Law School, ensuring it delivers high-quality legal education and research that meets the needs of students, the legal profession, and academia. This role requires a visionary leader with a strong academic and professional background in law, capable of fostering an environment of academic excellence, innovation, and community engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Provide academic and administrative leadership to the Law School, promoting excellence in teaching, research, and professional service.
- Develop and implement strategic plans that align with the broader objectives of the university and respond to changes in legal education and practice.
- Oversee the development and revision of curricula, ensuring they meet the highest educational standards and are responsive to the evolving needs of the legal profession.
- Manage the recruitment, development, and retention of faculty and staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Cultivate relationships with alumni, legal professionals, and other stakeholders to enhance opportunities for collaboration, funding, and employment for students.
- Represent the Law School within the university and externally in the legal community, enhancing its reputation and visibility.
- Monitor and manage the school’s budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support its strategic priorities.
- Encourage a culture of research and scholarship among faculty and students, securing funding and resources to support their initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and continuous improvement of educational practices.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent degree in law, with a strong academic record.
- Significant experience in academic leadership, with a demonstrated ability to manage a law school or a substantial academic unit.
- Proven track record of teaching excellence and scholarly research in law.
- Strong leadership and management skills, capable of inspiring and directing a diverse team of professionals.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in legal education and the legal profession today.
- Strategic thinker with a clear vision for the development of legal education.
