HEAD OF DIGITAL COMMERCE

An exciting opportunity is available for a commercially driven and entrepreneurial Head of Digital Commerce to build and lead an ecommerce function within the animal health and animal feed environment.
This is a hands-on role where you will take ownership of the digital commerce journey — from strategy and platform implementation through to launch, customer experience, fulfilment and commercial growth.

Join an established Mpumalanga-based business with a strong retail footprint across Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
With its head office in Mpumalanga and a growing presence across multiple provinces, the business is now expanding its digital offering and is looking for a Head of Digital Commerce based in Gauteng to lead this exciting next phase of growth.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in building and growing the company's digital commerce platform within the animal health and animal feed environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the digital commerce strategy.
• Lead the ecommerce platform selection, implementation and launch.
• Integrate ecommerce with ERP, warehouse, inventory, payment and logistics systems.
• Establish efficient online order, fulfilment and returns processes.
• Drive online sales, customer acquisition and profitability.
• Oversee website performance, product content, pricing and customer experience.
• Lead digital marketing initiatives including SEO, Google Ads, social media, email and retargeting.
• Analyse ecommerce data, conversion rates and customer behaviour to identify growth opportunities.
• Manage ecommerce budgets, suppliers and technology partners.
• Build and lead the ecommerce team as the function grows.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Digital Marketing, Ecommerce, Business, Information Systems or related field.
• 3–5+ years' experience in Ecommerce, Digital Commerce or Online Retail.
• Proven experience launching or scaling an ecommerce platform.
• Experience with warehouse, fulfilment and logistics operations.
• Strong knowledge of ecommerce platforms such as Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce or similar.
• Experience with digital marketing, analytics and conversion optimisation.
• Previous people leadership experience.

The Ideal Candidate
A hands-on digital commerce leader who combines commercial thinking, digital expertise and entrepreneurial drive. You should enjoy building something from the ground up, working across departments and turning digital opportunities into measurable revenue growth.
Experience within agriculture, animal health, animal feed or a related environment will be advantageous.
