Head of Communications & Stakeholder Relations

About the position

A leading South African organisation is seeking a seasoned communications leader to drive its corporate communications, stakeholder engagement, reputation management, marketing, media relations, and internal communications functions. This strategic leadership role is suited to an influential executive who can shape organisational reputation, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and position the organisation as a trusted and respected brand.



Key Responsibilities

• Lead and implement the organisation's communications and stakeholder engagement strategy.
  
  
• Drive reputation management, brand positioning, and marketing initiatives.
  
  
• Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  
  
• Oversee media relations, content development, digital communications, and public messaging.
  
  
• Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership on communication and stakeholder matters.
  
  
• Lead internal communication initiatives that enhance employee engagement and organisational alignment.
  
  
• Manage a high-performing team and ensure effective budget and performance management.
  
  

Minimum Requirements

• Postgraduate qualification in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. A Master's degree will be advantageous.
  
  
• Minimum 15 years' relevant experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or stakeholder management.
  
  
• At least 8 years' experience in a senior management or executive leadership role.
  
  
• Demonstrated success in corporate communications, reputation management, stakeholder engagement, content development, and marketing campaigns.
  
  
• Strong leadership, relationship-building, and strategic influencing capability.
  
  
• Sound understanding of the South African public sector environment.
